How to Start Juicing in 3 Easy Steps!

My dearest juice enthusiasts,

Juicing can be quite intimidating if you don’t know about it or where to begin. I can break it down into 3 steps on how to begin, what recipes to try and what to expect!


1.The first commitment of your new life with juicing, is to buy a juicer. The most economical and capable juicer for a beginner would be a regular centrifugal juicer. Slow juicers are more efficient but quite expensive. For your very first juicer I would highly recommend the Juice Fountain Cold by Breville (link here), or any centrifugal juicer by Breville!

2.At the beginning of your juicing journey, pick three different types of juices to try, to see which ones you care for. For example, try a carrot/apple/ginger juicer, then a mean green juice and lastly a watermelon and mint juice to try.


The very first juice I would make is a mean green juice: 6 kale leaves, 1 cucumber, 4 celery stalks, 2 green apples 1 lemon and 1 inch of ginger. You will quickly find out that lemon will become your best friend, especially in the beginning. It generally masks some of the darker green such as kale and leaves you with a sweet and sour refreshing taste. With green juicing for beginners, it is smart to start off with  green juice that has more of a mild taste, such as celery and cucumber. Over time your taste buds will adjust and you will be able to handle more intense tasting fruits and vegetables.


The second juice I would make is an orange juice- a classic carrot-apple ginger. This is a simple juice- the apple and carrot are quite sweet (but extremely healthy of course) and the spice of the ginger balances it out. Try 5 medium carrots, 2 apples and 1 inch of ginger.


Lastly, make a delicious watermelon and mint leaf juice (1/4 watermelon and handful of fresh mint leaves), this juice is very hydrating and tasty!


3.When you start juicing there are some things to consider and side effects to be aware of-To begin, the morning is the best time of day to juice. Then your stomach is empty and the juice will be able to deliver all of the nutrients and be easily absorbed by your body!


Be prepared for some side effects you will feel once you start juicing such as

    1. frequent digestion while your body is detoxing itself from all the toxins
    2. energy surges, even more than a coffee kick
    3. clear mind and sharpness of your thoughts
    4. clear skin
    5. healthy body from the inside out.
